Arizona Cultural Academy & College Prep invites YOU and Your FAMILY to the Annual Science Fair in the school's Gym. What you will find: 6th -12th grade students’ interactive displays An exciting look into science and the minds of our future generation 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners of the Science Fair will be announced the following day and invited to submit their projects and compete at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair at the Phoenix Convention Center Thank you for supporting ACA’s Science Program. We look forward to seeing you at the fair!

Assalamu Aleikum: It is our honor to invite you to the 2018 Montessori International Day on Friday, February 16, 2018. Please feel free to invite your family and friends to take part. We will have performances, a slide show, and fun activities for the children including face paint and crafts. The slide show will begin at 8:30 am in the Gym. The performances will start at 9:00 am. Following the performances and activities, they will have pizza for lunch. Please have your child wear cultural clothing, everyone will be dressed up. You may bring cultural items to display for all of the students and families to see. Please bring them by February 14th, labeled with your student's name. To make this event possible, we will need the help of volunteers, please sign up on the volunteer sign up sheet with your child's teacher. You will receive hours for the mandatory parent support program (PSP) for volunteering. For More information, contact your child’s teacher or email julia.hammond@azacademy.org M6 families: Our youngest children will remain in their classroom for a mini International Day. They will have a slide show and some activities as well. They will start at the conclusion of the performance portion of the program in the Gym at 10:00 am so that parents can go to both if they need to. Thank you,

Dear Parents and Guardians, In April of this year, we will be piloting ACA’s new Highly Capable (gifted) Program identification process. If you have ever considered having your child’s aptitudes assessed for potential giftedness, this could be an opportunity for you. The pilot process will function as follows: 1. February 19 – March 16 a. Learn more about the characteristics of gifted students by visiting this Informational Flyer on the ACA website. b. Think carefully about whether your child exhibits a preponderance of the characteristics of giftedness. c. If you feel your child has a large number of these characteristics, please fill out the Referral Form and return it to the school’s office. 2. March 19 – March 30 a. ACA staff will review applications and invite the first ten eligible students to participate in the assessment process. b. If your child is selected to participate in the pilot, you will be contacted for written permission to have your child assessed and you will be charged the assessment fee of $55.00. 3. April 2 – April 13 a. CogAT Assessments Administered: i. The CogAT provides a snapshot of your child’s abilities in the areas of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal functioning. ii. This is just one piece of the data that school staff will review as a component of multiple criteria used to determine if further assessment is necessary in planning for your child’s educational program. b.
