Welcome to Second Grade!

My name is Neelofar Yunus. I was raised in Stockton, California. I have attended kindergarten through college in California. I am the second grade homeroom teacher and the school nurse at Arizona Cultural Academy. I teach Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Computers, and Fine Arts. This is my second year teaching second grade at Arizona Cultural Academy. I have worked as a substitute in the past and I have worked in the medical field.

Starting a new year can be an exciting time and I am happy to share that with you and your child. I hope you had a restful summer and are ready for a fabulous year in second grade. I am looking forward to giving you and your child many wonderful experiences and making this a successful year.

I believe that all children can and want to learn. As a teacher, I would like to help your child learn to be an independent, lifelong learner. I will plan very carefully so that your child can feel challenged without unnecessary frustration. I would like your child to develop and maintain an "I can and I will try" attitude which enables success.

Parent and Teacher Partnerships: It is very important to have excellent communication between home and school. A parent and teacher partnership is very important to the success of your child. Your child needs to know that we are working together to help in his/her success. It is very important to review corrected work at home, ensure homework is completed, study for tests, and read daily with your child. Please encourage your child to ask questions in the classroom if they don’t understand something.
