In The Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
Dear Parents,
Assalamu Alaikum,
I am extremely happy to welcome you and your child to my classroom this year. My name is Sabahudin Ceman and I will be teaching Islamic Studies - grades 6-12.
I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have attended the school for Imam’s in the capital city of Sarajevo and graduated in 1989 with the degree in Islamic Studies. I came to Arizona in 1997 to fill a position of Imam at the Islamic Center of North Phoenix. I’ve been in that position ever since.
I am eager to teach the Islamic Studies to your child for many reasons. For one, Islam is not only about obtaining knowledge, but it is also about putting that knowledge into practice in our daily life. That being said, we must equip our children with the knowledge of Islam so that they may be able to accomplish that goal. We are constantly challenged and as adults may have a hard time overcoming those challenges. We want our children to be able to overcome those challenges themselves when they are presented with them. I believe students can grow and develop by examining and understanding the issues we cover in class. The main goal of course is to cover the fundamentals of our faith.
I believe I will make the class more interesting, so that each child understands as well as enjoys them. Moreover, I do not just want to stick to academic content knowledge rather instill love, passion, and practice of Islam into our children’s lives. I hope to make this academic year, an educational, useful, and practical in everyday life.
Additional information about the class is provided in the syllabus.
Please note that if you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment please) after school. To schedule a meeting, you may contact me via email at sabahuddin.sceman@azacademy.org.
I am excited to work with your child. I welcome questions or comments, and am looking forward to a great year!
Sabahuddin Ceman
