Respected Parents,
Assalam-o-Alaikum
My name is Yasmin Choudry. This year I will be the art
teacher at Arizona Cultural Academy.
Before moving to Arizona I taught at Faith Islamic Academy
in Akron, Ohio and served as the Principal of the Sunday
Islamic School. I taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten,
first grade and did some Home Economics projects with,
fourth and fifth grade students. I have dual Bachelor
Degrees, one in English and Sociology and one specializing
in Education. I also attended Home and Social Science
College for three and a half years, and gained knowledge of
child care, child development, food and nutrition, textiles,
home management, drawing, painting, arts and crafts. I also
acquired additional training in Arts from Pakistan.
I have 16+ years of teaching experience in USA, Kuwait and
Pakistan. I taught different subjects (including Art and
Islamic Studies) from Montessori to eighth grade. I won
awards and prizes for my effective and creative teaching
style and extensive volunteer community work. In addition, I
have prepared my students to develop their physical, motor,
social, emotional and intellectual skills, and Masha-Allah
today they are in colleges and universities, becoming
functional members of the society.
In Kuwait, I led an inter-school art team that participated
in national art competitions. Several students from our
school won the top prizes in various categories. I have
extensive experience in organizing and implementing school
and community events where activities have ranged from
school fairs to stage plays for students.
I have written scripts and directed skits for school
children that are related to their daily life. One of them
was performed in Youngstown Ohio on Independence Day a few
years ago. I also have written articles for school magazines
throughout my career, first as a student and then as a
teacher. My first article “Children, The Beauty of Nature”
was published during my college years and was appreciated by
everyone.
Alhamdu-Lillah, my diverse experience has provided me with a
valuable perspective in educating and mentoring our youth.
My students have always loved my creative teaching style. I
am looking forward to applying all my skills and working
with your children to have a mutually beneficial learning
experience that can also help them in their life skills.
I have lived, experienced and enjoyed the society and
culture from various countries spanning across Africa, Asia,
Europe and America. I look forward to working with all the
students, teachers, administration and parents at the
Arizona Cultural Academy, Insha-Allah.
